Institute of Transformative Technologies, a US based think tank, was looking to assess an innovative cooling technology for application in rural Indian households. Future Factory used its “Diagnostics” model across the entire system of installation, use and recharge, to assess the technology’s potential and run a user diagnosis on the concept, to arrive at recommendations for successful implementation.
The Future Factory team created a functional prototype based on the proprietary cooling technology. The prototype was then taken to field test in select rural centres, that were selected to be representative of potential markets. The panel assessment covered a month of repeated testing and diagnosis using design research methods. The result was a presentation outlining behavioural change and use cases, explaining the potential for the technology, and its user ascribed value, both at a systemic and product level.
